Camp Actor’s anti-smoking ban themed dancefloor shredder, and live favourite This is Not New York garnered not one but two 5/5 reviews from two separate “Seven” magazine reviewers, in two consecutive weekly issues, and received XFM airplay, courtesy of a certain John Kennedy.
High praise and dancefloor rotation followed from the likes of Richard Norris (The Grid/The Droyds), Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream/Kasabian/Sabres of Paradise) and Mira Aroyo (Ladytron). Mark Moore (S’Express) then promptly slotted it into his “Nag Nag Nag” top ten.
The 12” features Camp Actor’s own barnstorming “heavy disco” Big Smoke mix, while Stephen Patman’s (Chapterhouse) industrial cut-up Diamond Cut mix appears on both formats. The CD single has the only available appearance on CD for the lads’ critically acclaimed, Kraut Rock-influenced early track Antifashion (once described by “Godfather of Electroclash” Larry Tee as “Kraftwerk with better beats”).
